  • Our Work

The Queensland Disability Stakeholder Engagement and Co-Design Strategy was developed by Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN), in consultation with people with disability and the disability sector.

The Strategy supports delivery of the Queensland Disability Reform Framework and establishes structures to put people with disability and stakeholders at the heart of reform processes through co-design.

QDN is leading the implementation of the Strategy in partnership with our Project Delivery Partners which includes key governance mechanisms for the project at strategic advisory and project delivery implementation. A key part of work to implement these reforms is engaging and co-designing with the disability community including people with disability, families, disability providers, peak bodies, advocacy as well as government agencies.

Disability Reform Implementation Stakeholder Committee (DRISC)

The Disability Reform Implementation Stakeholder Committee (DRISC) is a cross-sectional body that brings people with disability, advocacy organisations, service providers, existing peak bodies, key community and government representatives and relevant statutory office holders together to consolidate and provide advice and guidance to the Queensland Government.

About the Co-design Hub and Co-design Team

An important element of the Strategy is the Co-design Hub and Co-design Team. The Co-Design Hub is a central hub that hosts co-design labs, capacity building workshops, online communities of practice and a digital resource clearinghouse. Deep dive consultations and co-design activities are bringing together diverse groups to identify and design solutions for policies, strategies and legislation.

The Co-design Team is driving disability reform by creating and testing ideas that put people with disability at the centre of the process. The Co-Design Team is working to a workplan that has been approved by the Disability Reform Implementation Stakeholder Committee (DRISC). This workplan focuses on the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability and the NDIS Review.

    Community forums

Four times a year, QDN, in partnership with the Queensland Government, hosts community forums across Queensland. The forums are an opportunity to input into disability reforms and are a chance for people to:

    • make their voices count – help shape outcomes that will work in their regions
    • connect with community – meet others working toward change in the disability sector
    • ask questions and hear from the QDN team.

After each set of forums, a report is published which summarises the findings and discussion. Reports can be found on the resources page.
